Update to my Fitness progress

For this month, I am off of work on Thursdays and Fridays and it is cool, I prefer to have my weekends. I am finally going to try Almond Butter so, if any of you have a recipe that involves Almond Butter don’t be afraid to send it my way. I will also check out some recipes via Pinterest. My knee has been bothering me these past couple of days so I chose to do some low impact cardio by hopping on the Eliptical for 40 minutes with lots of resistance. I alternated in 2 minute intervals with resistance levels of 10 and 15. Let me tell you my glutes feel tight. I ended my workout session with an upper body circuit I introduced in my previous blog. I think I need to buy some gloves. Preferably Purple! I have a post for everyone, I have been putting in work on my tummy and it is looking better week by week. I have to watch my carbs, because I become bloated easily. Aging at it’s finest. Check me out!

Oh, and of course I need to end my post with my adorable dog Gizmo. Took him to the dog park and had him chase his frisbee until the end of time.

5K Dream Deferred…

Remember that 5k I was supposed to run in on Saturday? Well, that dream was deferred  Anyone who lives in the Houston, TX area knows how bad parking is in the Medical Center and how confusing that can be. Poor planning on my part resulted in me circling the 5k route for a good 30 minutes. I was unable to find the designated parking place, and opted to just run by my apartment at the wonderful park up the street. 5k timed or not, I could still get my 3 mile run in. As I exit to go to the park, rain pours down. Dream absolutely differed. I opted for an Ihop Swiss Mocha instead.

I cannot be mad, all I can do is look forward to the next 5k or take on my running adventures around my apartment and local park. This will not get me down and like I said it’s deferred, like a student loan payment ha ha! My knee got some movement on the elliptical today. I think I will stick with the elliptical until it gets a little bit stronger. It hyper-extended a few times, but minus the pain! This is progress.

Run to the MOON!

Well  here we are at the beginning of 2013. Time to make new goals for our fitness and our health and what better way to challenge ourselves by going for a run.  I have set a goal of Eating healthier, pigging out less, not giving in to lots and lots of cravings. I am also going to track my eating habits (it really helps) and plan my meals with MyFitnessPal. My name on there is shoedooo (which is also my name for almost everything) if you really want to see what my habits are. I will start to record my meals come Monday. Moving Weekend

What a week it has been. I mean there were fireworks non-stop last week. I had an unfortunate blow out with my current roommate. We could not find a way to make our situation workable. It happens, but it is best that we separate and go our separate ways. So this weekend was a moving weekend. It just feels so good to live alone again. To have peace in your household and not walk into a world of dysfunction. If you have ever watched the Roommate is was a milder version of that. Hallelujah I will celebrate with a bottle of wine when I am officially unpacked. This is the 3rd time this year that I have moved. Moving sucks. There is no way around it, but it is an awesome workout! Tomorrow, me and my workout partner will be hitting the gym at our usual 5am time and running in the evenings since it has finally cooled down.

The Not So Perfect Story of My So-Called Love Life

It started out fine. You wanted the things I wanted. In the beginning your effort was more than evident. A call here a text there, a curiosity about me was there. The more you found out and placed yourself in my world, the more I wanted you there. I wanted feelings to blossom; I wanted the care and affection I’ve been searching for to begin. Then, it seems, you became bored. Your texts became fewer, your calls non-existent, plans got canceled, and you didn’t mind not seeing me for weeks at a time. I tried to let you know that my time was valuable and it backfired. This led to more canceled times, more disappointment. You said you were busy and stretched thin. Starved for your attention, I let you know what I could handle, and the few and far in betweens, was not my idea of romance. It seems it fell on deaf ears, and you continued to be too busy to see my interest in you was fading. Or was it that you wanted it to fade? Did you make a choice to frustrate me to the point of not speaking, or even having bitterness towards you? I hope not. Never was I worried that another wouldn’t have the same excitement as you in the beginning. I was just hoping your interest, unlike the others would be more permanent. Looks like I was wrong, you ARE just like the others. So, I really have to do myself a favor and move on.
