Weekends in Lousiana

*This is a day late due to WordPress Mobile Technical Difficulties*

I spent my weekend in Louisiana.

It was a good one. I got to spend some quality time with my new boyfriend (Yes, ya’ll finally). I decided to take vacation on Friday so I would have time to get my hair done (2-week ritual), and drive up early. I learned that from my last visit that a turn around vacation isn’t ideal. It rained so hard the entire time I was on the road. I got there and we went to the gym, Friday was my rest day so I just did 30 minutes of slow cardio on the elliptical, and we spent the rest of our time inside thanks to the rain and watched movies and caught up.

Saturday was better,

We continued to watch movies, relax and went to the gym and rocked out our shoulders and abs. Reverse crunches, 150 twists on a gym ball, and 40 mins of cardio will have you spent! I think I took a nap and spent some QT with my dog and my guy.

Sunday was beautiful! I woke up early to finish some of my homework and other things that were due for school for about a good hour and a half and after that we took Gizmo for a walk. I spotted the pool, and we went back in the house to watch football, and then we went to the pool. Let’s just say I acted up! Cartwheels, jumps, dancing and funny poses you name it. It was fun. We then went back to the house so I could pack up and head home :-(. Long distance sucks but it can be done! We are working on it ūüėČ

Today’s back and biceps workout will include:

  • 20 mins cardio (will do at home)¬†
  • Reverse Grip¬†Pull downs
  • Bent Over Barbell Rows
  • Hypertensions
  • Straight Arm Pull Downs
  • Concentration Curls
  • Dumbbell Alternate Curls
  • Cable Curls
  • 20 min cardio(will do at home)¬†
  • 150 twists

My triceps are sore from 3 days ago, but I will be okay. I got this work out from Bodybuilding.com Kris Gethins 12 week program. I am 5 days in and I feel great.

Now, to my weekend. I went to visit my new boo, (I have a boyfriend now!) at his Military Base in Louisiana. I made the three hour trek with my pooch, and it went without a hitch. ¬†I got there and we hung out, watched football, went to eat with his friends, and watch a movie. The next day, we went to the gym and GOT. IT. IN. Did I mention he and his friend are training for a fitness competition? I had an amazing workout with his guidance and his friend and wife. It was almost like a double gym date of sorts lol. We did barbell exercises, leg lift machine exercises, dumbbell exercises, and resistance bands. Then we went and did 30 minutes of cardio. I was HUNGRY! I tore into one of my pre prepped meals when I got back into the house. After that, he gave me a mini tour of the post, and took a test for class. we spent the rest of the time watching some football (I love Football!). I had such a great time I didn’t want to leave. ūüė¶

Also, I have lost about 4lbs already being on my 6 small meals, low carb, meal plan as of lately! I am so excited! I hope I can see an ab soon! Anywho, that was my weekend! Stay tuned for Transformation Tuesdays!

Friday!

Friday!

It is here and I am excited! My plans this weekend are to go apartment hunting, workout, play with my dog, spruce up my house and possibly go to The Heights White Linen night.

It is a neighborhood hosted event where people in the Heights host a night where everyone wears white linen. There is art displays, food, dancing, socializing, and music! It is a huge community event and people come from all over Houston to be apart of this one night! Exciting right?

Today, I am incredibly exhausted. I am already contemplating drinking another cup of coffee. I got caught up last night…..reading a book. Yes, My name is Sharde, and I am a NERD! I love to read and I do not do it as often as I would like to. I however, am back for now, reading, and letting my imagination run wild. I get this intrinsic happiness from reading a book and letting my imagination freely express itself. There is nothing like a book. I was too impatient to wait on the second movie about The Hunger Games: Girl on Fire,¬†so of course I read the book. On my Kindle. Thanks to Amazon Prime, you can borrow best selling books once a month for free!!!! Amazon knows how to please it’s consumers, that is for sure.

The book was amazing and I am excited about the up and coming movie. Happy Friday!!!

Weekend Recap, 15lbs down!

I had a pretty fabulous weekend,

I hope you all did as well. My weekend consisted of participating in my Company’s annual Junior Achievement Bowl – a – Thon, and marathon movie watching. Saturday I woke up at 6am, I am finding that it is rare I sleep in on Saturday, due to all of the commitments I take up. Ah, the life of a responsible, active adult. The Bowl – A – Thon is an annual event that helps raise funds for Junior Achievement, a community outreach program, that teaches children how the economy, and community tie together. I have had the pleasure of working with them for 4 years now, and I was this years Team Captain. We raised $900 dollars plus for the program, and we had a blast bowling! ¬†Here is a picture:

After all that good fun, I went home and watched a boat load of movies! My dog of course, I had to play fetch with him every now and then, but he was pretty much sleep the entire time. I posted a funny picture of him on IG too. I ended that day pretty much sleeping. Sunday, I went to the Dog Park and Gizmo got humped profusely by this male Poodle mix. He was so annoyed. I love the dog park, it is an excellent way to connect with other dog lovers. I enjoy it. I ended my day by watching True Blood, RHNJ, Ray Donovan, Newsroom, and Tia and Tamera. All good shows. Also! I have lost 15 lbs to date. Exciting. I am only 7lbs away from my goal weight! (175!!!) I am too excited. 175 is pretty skinny for a 6 foot woman. I can’t believe at the beginning of the year I was 2lbs away from 200! :-O Scary. Change has come and is here to stay!

1st Post as an official WordPress.org blog

Happy Sunday everyone!

I am officially on WordPress.org. I had a difficult time figuring out how to do it, it was fairly easy. I appreciate my hosting site BlueHost for helping me with a walk through on it. I recommend them highly. Now that we’ve gotten that out the way, I am going to meal prep for the week. I went shopping finally for my food and the HEB Plus has an excellent selection in food, and er uh wine samples. LOL.

I have prepared prepped and tried to learn as much as I could with the GMAT. I don’t feel that prepared for the math portion but I think I will do fine. I have had a lot of well wishes with it. All I need is a 480 on the test to continue in my graduate school endeavours. I have been so stressed I have not attempted to work out. ūüė¶ I know terrible. I have bought a Yoga Mat and I am practicing my handstand. It’s some serious work and you have to learn to trust yourself. I have to believe in my hips! So I need to work on my hip flexors. I hope to get it by the end of next month.

I went to the movies to see Superman on Friday and it was AWESOME! I also had my meal a la big purse:

Lovely things were in there. My friends Daiquiri. My patty melt and apple pie for my cheat day. Yum. Today I going to see World War Z. I cannot wait! Well happy Sunday!

Weekend recap

I lost 1.5 pounds this weekend! Yay! I am finally seeing some pound loss! I am so happy!

This made my weekend great. I went to see the movie The purge and it was a good one. Scary, creepy, and funny, also short and sweet. I was a busy bee this weekend. I started my Saturday off at the salon, and took Gizzy(my dog) to Day camp (Daycare for dogs). I went to visit my mom and she had my niece and nephew over for the day and showed off my new car (Did I mention I bought a new car?)20130610-104611.jpg

We chatted and I ate some of her wonderful chicken and then got on the road to study. After a few hours hunger overtook my concentration and I went to my favorite healthy pita place called Island Bar and Grill @Fit2aT showed me. I had a jumbo shrimp pita and sweet potato fries! YUM! If you come to Houston, I highly recommend it!  I was randomly invited to a Crawfish boil (too much sodium for my liking) so I picked up my best gal friend and we went to this daiquiri shop, then proceeded to the boil. That was so much fun!20130610-104813.jpg

I also realized I am not much of a drinker anymore, and that I really do not like the thirsty feeling I get the next day. However, it was fun I laughed super hard and learned what “Flip Cup” is about.

I also discovered this social media site Vine. So much fun can be had with it. Check out a few of my posts on there (shoedooo). Really funny stuff.

Sunday I ran all over town, I went to drop Gizmo off at the Groomers, I went to drop off some papers for my car at the dealership, but they were closed (MEH) and took a good nap. I also went shopping and made my famous Stuffed Shells. Yummy. No working out was done this weekend ūüė¶ But today, ladies and gentlemen, It will be done.

Workout Free Weekend

My weekend was workout free,

I decided not to be a superwoman and take it easy a couple of days out of the week. However, it was very active. I decided to sign up and volunteer with the Houston Humane Society and help them out at one of their mobile locations. We met bright and early at the facility, walked the dogs that were selected for the mobile (all still available for adoption if interested they range from 4 months Р2 years), loaded them up and went to Tom Bass Pro/Outdoor World. I underestimated the vastness of this place. It was like a mall for everything you would need for hunting, camping, fishing, atving and some. It was an amazing place. I would love to go back if I ever decide to deal with wildlife. LOL. Anyways my dog of the day was Winter. She was a 4 month old lab mix (Who I mistook for a boy LOL) and she was very cute. She was cuddly, she was a little shy but everyone who petted her she wagged her tail for. I taught her to climb the stairs and fed her a million treats and after a few hours, she was exhausted. She stopped walking with me at one point and just had the most cute exhausted expression ever. So, you know what I did? I did this:

Held her like the baby she was. She let me and I took advantage. I kept handing her off to people and they ate it up. She almost got adopted this way a few times. LOL. My dog never allows me to hold him like this he has far too much spunk to be associated with this cuddly calm hold, so I had to get my 30 minutes in. After the mobile I helped out at the facility for a few more hours and went home to shower and change. I started to study for the GMAT, and almost forgot an appointment I had at Walgreens. In order to get into school you have to have a meningitis shot and I have no clue if I ever got one. So I got one. I then proceeded to go to the store and I had a craving for Crab Legs. I made them a little too spicy but it was sooooo goood!

Yum. So I ended the day with a movie. Iron Man. MAN HOLD UP! It was amazing. Must see I¬†recommend it! So I finally passed out. Sunday I spent the day with my dog, studied for 2 hours and went to brunch with a friend at Baby¬†Barnaby’s¬†and the dog park and ended the night with a few Reality TV shows.¬†¬†Action packed eventful, and not a single workout was done. This week however Monday – Thurday! It goes down!¬†
