Facebook Announcement

Hello!

I finally announced my pregnancy to my main social sites, Facebook and Instagram. It was not a secret, but I wanted to be very cute with my announcement. I wanted to incorporate my dog, since I treat him like my child and so I went and looked up pregnancy announcements. Here is the end result!

Retouched

Pretty cute huh! Hope my re-sizing is not too small but it was huge at the start. I took a picture with my Nikon J1 and it turned out great. I am now 17 weeks along and I am interested in feeling my baby move. I feel like I might have felt her move, but I cannot be too sure. I am sure that it will happen soon. Most 1st time mothers do not feel anything until 20 weeks or so.

School has been kicking my assets, and I find that concentrating on things is hard for me lately. I hear it is associated with being pregnant. Sucks, because I am the sharpest person to most people, and I have become extremely forgetful! I made an 85 on my midterm, and I am very satisfied with that being that I read 4 of the 8 chapters a couple of days before the midterm. I definitely should not let that happen again. EVER.

I have decided to wait on purchasing a home for now, and decided to continue to rent an apartment. Having a baby and a House note on my one person income may be too much for me. So once I get a decent raise, or promotion and adjust to life with a small baby, then I will start the exciting journey again. I move in a few weeks.

In workout news, I have not been motivated, I just have not done it. Period. I am however active, when it comes to work and when I am out, I am just not working out. When I move I will use our amazing apartment gym and take walks around our community. It will be good for the baby and me. I will also do some of these stretches I found on pinterest. So expect some bump pictures soon, I have honestly not been in a picture friendly mood. So I will get it together.

Weekly update

I’ve been trying to get back into being consistent with my blog, but it appears, I have not been doing so well!

I have a few things to announce:

  • I started school again and I will be taking 6 hours of grad courses
  • I finally have a lot more energy going on around here for a minute there I thought I would just be like a bear and hibernate
  • I will be doing two 5k’s one is in April.
  • I will be taking a road trip to ATL with my Dad!

I have some other very exciting things to announce in the coming weeks and you will be floored. “-)

This past week I have been reading for my classes, making sure my calendar is marked so I will not forget any assignments. I got my dog a nice little haircut and he is liking it I think. I plan on doing more dog parenty things with him. I need to step up my activity as a dog parent. Chasing him and playing fetch can only go so far. Well, here are some pics!

Moving Weekend

My weekend was full of cardboard!

Literally. I woke bright and early to get my rented U-Haul, and had movers move my major furniture into storage. It was really Humid with no wind so things got a little sticky. I wore shorts and a loose shirt and that still did not help things. I got a few cat calls though LOL! After that a friend came over to help me make a few trips and I had to go back to the new place to make sure the AT&T guy connected my service. I have to have Showtime. I cannot be without it! He had trouble finding whatever the connector thing is to the phone lines, I ended up finding it. He just overall did a mediocre job. After that I was pooped. I took a long break and relaxed in the bed. I got hungry and decided to go get some food. I took my dog, Gizmo, out to go potty, and ended up getting locked out. 3 hours later, I finally got my brother to unlock the door.

After that I met up with my step sister to have a glass of wine and enjoy a live band, I almost fell asleep 1 hour into the set, thanks to me not realizing I was exhausted. So I went to my new home to sleep. I slept like a brick! I woke up and went back to my old apartment and in about 3 trips, I was completely moved out. I woke up at 5am to buy a shirt for our Customer Service Week at my job (I was on the committee) and meet up with the wonderful ladies who cleaned my apartment. Superb Cleaning Service is someone I highly recommend!

Check out my photos!

I hope everyone’s weekend was eventful! I am taking a day off of my workouts since this weekend I did basically the elliptical carrying boxes up and down the stairs.

WOD

Yesterday,

I had my session with my trainer at #Garagefit. It included:

20130807-095526.jpg

It literally put me to bed. I actually had a sweat pool on my back and on my torso, which is huge for me. I honestly believe that I have hypoactive sweat glands. Meh. I came home to my eager dog, only to disappoint him by falling asleep. I even attempted to watch Catfish, and ended up turning it off and going right to bed. I have to work late tomorrow so another Workout session with #GarageFit is due. I will post the workout and let you know how it made me feel.

Some personal goals I would like to accomplish this month:

  • Work on my patience( I sometimes have a moment or 4 of impatience)
  • Find an apartment (My rent increased substantially so, I have to find a more affordable place)
  • Pay for someone’s Coffee via Drive- Thru.
  • Buy/Rent my books before the 1st day of school so I will not fall behind.

Do any of you have any personal goals you would like to accomplish this month?

Weekend Recap, 15lbs down!

I had a pretty fabulous weekend,

I hope you all did as well. My weekend consisted of participating in my Company’s annual Junior Achievement Bowl – a – Thon, and marathon movie watching. Saturday I woke up at 6am, I am finding that it is rare I sleep in on Saturday, due to all of the commitments I take up. Ah, the life of a responsible, active adult. The Bowl – A – Thon is an annual event that helps raise funds for Junior Achievement, a community outreach program, that teaches children how the economy, and community tie together. I have had the pleasure of working with them for 4 years now, and I was this years Team Captain. We raised $900 dollars plus for the program, and we had a blast bowling!  Here is a picture:

After all that good fun, I went home and watched a boat load of movies! My dog of course, I had to play fetch with him every now and then, but he was pretty much sleep the entire time. I posted a funny picture of him on IG too. I ended that day pretty much sleeping. Sunday, I went to the Dog Park and Gizmo got humped profusely by this male Poodle mix. He was so annoyed. I love the dog park, it is an excellent way to connect with other dog lovers. I enjoy it. I ended my day by watching True Blood, RHNJ, Ray Donovan, Newsroom, and Tia and Tamera. All good shows. Also! I have lost 15 lbs to date. Exciting. I am only 7lbs away from my goal weight! (175!!!) I am too excited. 175 is pretty skinny for a 6 foot woman. I can’t believe at the beginning of the year I was 2lbs away from 200! :-O Scary. Change has come and is here to stay!

Garage Fit, Beauty Overhaul and etc

On tuesday,

20130711-122542.jpg

I went for more Garage fit. He worked my lower back, and ab muscles and helped me with my knee’s flexibility. I cannot sit on my feet comfortably. So, he gave me homework and told me to practice it so I could get a better range of motion. I really think it has more to do with my nerves than anything. I will get through this!!! I burned 600+ calories and fell asleep before my head hit the pillow. Gizmo, naturally was not excited about that. My dog lives for a game a fetch. I don’t. LOL. But his interests are my interests.

I have been in the business of buying new shoes. Shoes for leisure. I have a tendency to wear shoes out, because I wear them repeatedly. I have holes and cracks and some in a lot of my favorite shoes. So, I bought new ones!!! This certainly was not planned, but when you follow a gangload of fashionistas and have a few as friends, the shopping bug will bite you! So this is what I bought! (Can you tell I am excited)

and while searching for these shoes I found a lot more deals. Target is having a nice sale! I need a second job to support my recent shoe fetish. LOL.

Yesterday, I had my root canal and crown put in and I looked like a blow fish. Whatever they numbed me with was amazing. I had a great rapport with my Endodontist(A dentist who only does root canals) and my doctor. Take a look at my pic:

Today was supposed to be a Garage Fit day, but something came up with my trainer, so I may just ride my bike. I haven’t rode in 3 weeks! Crazy!!!! Well I hope everyone is doing fine. I am just excited to finally be back to normal!

Weekend Recap

I had a very interesting weekend,

I started out the weekend taking the hardest test I have ever encountered, the GMAT. It was a doozy. All in all I will have to take it again, and from what I hear, I won’t be the 1st nor the last to take this path. Ouch, that is the 1st test I have failed miserably like that. I tend to pride myself in my smarts, but this test, well it outsmarted me. I am use to direct questions that have direct answers and this test is far from that, and on top of that it is adaptive, meaning, it adapts to give you a harder or easier question, based on if you get an answer right or wrong.

Cute right?!

Well, after that downer, I decided to regroup, and have a drink :-), a margarita, and go shopping at TJ Maxx. I bought a snazzy new sling purse, and some workout gear. I bought some nice shorts, and a sports bra.. I have an up and coming session with this guy who has a gym in his garage and he trains people in there. This should be fun. #GarageFit is what he calls it. I’m looking for a challenge and a trainer, so why not!

I ended the day by going to the beach with my friends and dog, and it was excellent watching the sun set. My dog also made a new doggie friend, Pepper, and learned that when it comes to food, he might get snapped at. Which is hilarious!

20130701-111647.jpg20130701-111659.jpg20130701-111708.jpg

Sunday I slept until about 11ish and some friends called and we went to Kona Grill and did a little shopping at the mall. It was nice! I bought a necklace and a “Tom Boy” sleep set from Forever21. At Kona, the sushi was great as usual, and the Pot Stickers were yummy! I also learned, that I am not much of a drinker anymore. I haven’t drank really until this weekend, and one margarita, and a glass of wine made me very sleepy! I went home and slept for 2 hours straight! My friends called me old! LOL.

I ended my Sunday tweeting about love songs (I was in my feelings lol), watching True Blood, some of the BET awards, and texting a few people.

This week I plan on getting back on my bike, trying out the garage fit stuff, and running a mile to see if my knee is ready for me to hit pavement!

How was everyone’s weekend? Anything interesting go on?

Weekend recap

I lost 1.5 pounds this weekend! Yay! I am finally seeing some pound loss! I am so happy!

This made my weekend great. I went to see the movie The purge and it was a good one. Scary, creepy, and funny, also short and sweet. I was a busy bee this weekend. I started my Saturday off at the salon, and took Gizzy(my dog) to Day camp (Daycare for dogs). I went to visit my mom and she had my niece and nephew over for the day and showed off my new car (Did I mention I bought a new car?)20130610-104611.jpg

We chatted and I ate some of her wonderful chicken and then got on the road to study. After a few hours hunger overtook my concentration and I went to my favorite healthy pita place called Island Bar and Grill @Fit2aT showed me. I had a jumbo shrimp pita and sweet potato fries! YUM! If you come to Houston, I highly recommend it!  I was randomly invited to a Crawfish boil (too much sodium for my liking) so I picked up my best gal friend and we went to this daiquiri shop, then proceeded to the boil. That was so much fun!20130610-104813.jpg

I also realized I am not much of a drinker anymore, and that I really do not like the thirsty feeling I get the next day. However, it was fun I laughed super hard and learned what “Flip Cup” is about.

I also discovered this social media site Vine. So much fun can be had with it. Check out a few of my posts on there (shoedooo). Really funny stuff.

Sunday I ran all over town, I went to drop Gizmo off at the Groomers, I went to drop off some papers for my car at the dealership, but they were closed (MEH) and took a good nap. I also went shopping and made my famous Stuffed Shells. Yummy. No working out was done this weekend 😦 But today, ladies and gentlemen, It will be done.

Weekend Recap

What a wonderful weekend!

I started it off with a bicycle ride around my city. I participated in “Critical Mass” where bikers from all over town meet up at one location and ride out for 20 miles with no particular destination. Was it a challenge? If you count 20 miles as a challenge then yes! Was it fun, absolutely. It motivated me to want to ride more. I bought a bike the day of and had a difficult time getting an entire bike in my sedan (I do not recommend it), and once that was all set I had some seat issues but a quick stop at Lowes and a few minutes later I was ready to go. Now the lower part of my glutes feel sore, but other that that, I feel fabulous! Here are a few pictures from my Instagram (@shoedooo)

Pretty cool eh? So Saturday I spent my day at my brothers baby shower. He is having a girl with his Fiancee. I will be an Aunt for the 3rd time! This makes my mother aware that I am childless and I get the whole, “When are you going to settle down and give me some  grand kids talk” Ehhhhh. Give me a few years Mom. I need a boyfriend 1st! I was also the most competitive in the baby shower games. I love to compete what can I say. I have 2 cool prizes now. A bread and oil set and a margarita set! Oh yeah! I ended the day re-connecting with an old high school buddy and frolicking at the pool. It’s summer and the pool is a lovely thing.

Sunday I was a bum. Completely. I slept in and played with my dog. I got into a minor fender bender (No biggie!) and had the most hilarious dinner with my closest homegirls. My life experiences are super hilarious according to them. We had tons and tons of laughter! My friends Chicken Tetrazzini was so delicious. Oh. Carbs + Cheese = a lovely explosion of deliciousness. So what did you all do this weekend? Hope it was as fun and adventurous as mine!

Memorial Day Weekend Recap

What a great weekend!

It was just what I needed to get away from my normal day to day schedule. Between the heavy demands at work, and my rigid study schedule I needed some downtime. Holidays do just that!

Saturday: The day did NOT start off so well, I went to my beautician and I went for my usual perm and style, but  I wanted to bring back my old hair cut. A Keri Hilson Bang look. She originally gave me that hair cut and it was amazing!

See?! So beautiful!  Looks like my beautician wanted to “experiment on my hair this time and try a new cutting technique. WHY ME LORD? So I ended up with this Dora the Explorer lopsided Beatles edition of  the cut:

5-28-2013 10-54-47 AMI proceeded to freak out…. A LOT!  She tried to blame it on the sides of my hair (WHICH WERE CUT SUPER UNEVEN! BTW) for being too short to recreate the look and that I FORCED her to cut my hair like that. She told me before she began to hack my hair, that I had enough hair. My bangs touched my chin for Christs sake. This is the second time she has hacked my bangs and even though this haircut isn’t that bad (so i have been told) I DON’T F***ing like it! So we will not be going back to her.

The day proceeded to get better when I went to a pool party. 3 cups of wine had me feeling a little better about it!

Sunday: I woke up early and grabbed some things to go to the beach with my dog, sister and friends. We had crawfish and the day could NOT have been more perfect! It was my dog’s 1st time at the beach and he ran all over, got in the water, played fetch to his hearts content. He was so pooped by the end of the day he just fell asleep literally as soon as the car started up. Perfect DAY!

Monday:  I woke up early and spent some QT with Gizzy. Then, I headed off to the pool for some poolside relaxing. I really have a tan now. I made some sangria, bonded with some of my neighbors and went to a GMAT Math bootcamp. The day was superb. You really cannot get more of a perfect weekend than that.

I cannot wait until the next vacation/holiday. It was well needed and well deserved. How was everyone elses holiday? Hopefully fantastic!  This week will be all about working out and studying, my regularly scheduled programming.
