Thanksgiving and the Holiday Season!

Okay so I am so late with this post! AHHH! but this Thanksgiving,

It was a good one. I got to see a lot of family and meet new family members! I have not seen a cousin of mine since I was about 8 years old and it was a pleasure to catch up with him and meet his lovely wife. We made plans to keep in touch as well as to visit one another sometime next year. I am always for a trip as well as bonding with family. It’s priceless!

My mother cooked a good feast this year and did not disappoint. She had her spread for Thanksgiving a day early for us to all spend time together effectively, since my brothers have other family to visit with their kids and such. My little one was away with her dad and of course I missed her. She was back in my arms after the Thanksgiving weekend and it was everything. She truly has my heart and I am so blessed to be her Mommy.

While she was away, I partook in black Friday shopping with my sister. She wanted a TV and I wanted a vacuum cleaner as well as a standard coffee maker and a griddle. I love to cook and the flat top is an amazing, easy to clean tool. It will be used and abused! I also found time that same night to buy a tree and begin to decorate it into the wee hours of the morning. I ended up having to go back to the store on crazy black Friday to buy more lights and ornaments! London def enjoyed the tree and loves to look at it when home. Teaching a toddler how to not touch your tree? Not as simple!

I also bought a fitbit and I am OBSESSED with it. I challenge people on there and it makes me want to take extra steps to the printer my car taking out the trash and working out. The fitbit is genius!

Overall I am thankful for the friends and family I have in my life. I am truly blessed and could not think of a more perfect way to celebrate the holiday!

I sent out my holiday cards to the family and friends and I have gotten rave reviews on my cards! I also took it upon myself to create my own cards. I purchased cardstock, went to pic monkey and created my own background and made a few post cards for the Holidays. I think that they turned out well! Who knew that I could channel my inner Shutterfly and make things happen!

Happy Holidays to all!

Weekly update

I’ve been trying to get back into being consistent with my blog, but it appears, I have not been doing so well!

I have a few things to announce:

  • I started school again and I will be taking 6 hours of grad courses
  • I finally have a lot more energy going on around here for a minute there I thought I would just be like a bear and hibernate
  • I will be doing two 5k’s one is in April.
  • I will be taking a road trip to ATL with my Dad!

I have some other very exciting things to announce in the coming weeks and you will be floored. “-)

This past week I have been reading for my classes, making sure my calendar is marked so I will not forget any assignments. I got my dog a nice little haircut and he is liking it I think. I plan on doing more dog parenty things with him. I need to step up my activity as a dog parent. Chasing him and playing fetch can only go so far. Well, here are some pics!

Eventful is not the Word

I have had all kinds of things going on these days,

School has kept me so busy, that I was unable to even look at a gym. Luckily, I was able to do a 5k and a 28 mile bike ride this weekend, which has my glutes a little sore, but I feel foxxy! I did the Tour de Donut which benefits the Make-a-Wish Foundation, with my new bike group called the Slow Spoke Society! Go on over to our Facebook Page and like it! We are new fresh and ready to conquer rides! On this bike tour, we got to eat as many donuts as we could as we rode. I ate about 3 donuts. I was more concerned about the water and where it was lol. Check out the pics!

This entire month has been absolutely challenging for me. School, Work projects, Home life, and just life in general has been a whirlwind. My home life in particular was a nuclear disaster, which is why I ended up moving, and I feel like a heavy load or burden has been lifted. My morale this month, because of my stressful home life, has been all the way down. But do not worry, I have managed to stay positive, take it one step at a time and I am rebuilding it back up.

The 5k and the 28 mile bike ride really helped. When in doubt, work out! Ha! Working out has become such a great form of therapy. I mean, I read about it being a stress reliever and therapy, but I think I truly experienced it this weekend. Sometimes life will kick you in the rear hard. It is up to you whether you become a victim of your circumstances, or get back up and say is that all you got?!

I got contacts this Friday and I as a avid glasses wearer feel so fancy! LOL I like that people can see my face and I like the surprise people see when they notice my glasses are missing.

This week I am going to get back into my workout routine, start to bike halfway to work, work on reading my 3 chapters, 2 discussions, and 2 papers. Sounds like a lot, I know, but time management is the key to being successful! I got it. Hope everyone’s week is great as well! Stay focused and positive!!!

Stronger Swimmer Workout

Want to be a stronger swimmer?

Well Tribesports has a challenge to get you ready to go. The only H2O you will need is the kind you drink!

supersets1

This superset will not only make you look fab, but the conditioning will help you increase your endurance and speed in the pool. Not a swimmer? Well, this workout is still made for you. It can help boost your confidence to take the plunge and learn how to swim or, just be plain old good looking and sexy! I am all for looking sexy now. So let’s all take it together here at Tribesports.com

Yesterday I ran my 800 meters! Yipee! Now I want to challenge myself to run farther. I think I will FINALLY use my knee brace. I have been absolutely opposed to it, because I think I am SuperWoman and the sun will heal me. Not likely. My bike decided to catch a flat while I was riding it yesterday and I had to cut my bike ride short. 😦 I will buy a pump and also see if I can patch my tire up, this is only my 3rd time riding it. I burned a good 300 calories. Yay!

I have made a few blogger friends out there and I was invited to join Under Armour’s What’s Beautiful Campaign and let me tell you. It is absolutely the best. It has a whole community of women who have their own personal challenge when it comes to a fitness goal and has excellent ways to challenge/motivate/achieve those goals you set.  I recommend any of my lady bloggers/readers to sign up for it!  You can go to http://whatsbeautiful.ua.com and follow me on there at shoedooo (my universal username for anything). I signed up for I can do 6 miles on my bike and I will!

Find out what motivates you

Get out there and try

Have positive thoughts even if you do not achieve your goal in the timeframe you set. You can still achieve it

Look at your effort and progress!

Just a few things to stay motivated. Hopefully it helps 🙂 Happy Thursday everyone.

Healing, it is a slow process

I am not one to forgive easily. I have been known to harbor feelings of hurt. My way of dealing with it, is to either avoid the person or not really treat them with respect. I generally am not mean, but I do not go out of my way to be kind to them. I am not really careful with how I speak to them and I am not really tolerable of any of their quirks, or urge for me to respect them. People on the outside think I am absolutely rude capital b-word to these people, but honestly it is my way of dealing with the pain they inflicted on me. I am only typing this to offer an explanation for my non- courteous behavior. Now I know my behavior towards people like this is not correct, but healing is a slow process. I will forgive the person. It will not be an overnight process. Sometimes outsiders see the behavior and may have a connection to the one that offended me. They might find it offensive. It probably is.

Let me just say it isn’t some oh…. this person hurt my feelings or made me mad that makes it hard to forgive them. It was the fact that I was vulnerable and I needed them, and they mistreated me.  So forgive me if I am a little stand -offish to those who have inflicted deep mental anguish you can’t ever forget, but I want to forgive and get to the happiness in store, there is just a process that has to happen and that is not overnight. Just this year I have decided to forgive someone close to me for the things I was put through.  The healing starts now. Those who I understandably know hurts them to see two people they love have a disagreement like me and the offender do, just need to know that this is something they cannot fix, nor intervene on, they just need to let the process happen. It is best for my relationship with the offender and the ones that love me. Pain is a horrible feeling especially intangible pain. Healing is slow, and I am not perfect nor have claimed to be, I just need my loved ones to understand not everything needs a cape with extra starch to intervene.
