Warby Parker Glasses

I am a person who believes in a bargain,

If I can find one, I believe it is always worth a shot. I needed new glasses since November. I got around to doing my eye exam and everything, I just failed to order glasses. Lets not talk about how I still have yet to pick up my paid for contacts. So I usually order from a place called 39dollarglasses.com and they are wonderful, I have no bad things to say about them, I just decided I wanted to try something new. Warby Parker. They are an online glasses retail store, and they have some really nice modern and inexpensive specs to choose from, they even do chic and modern prescription sunglasses! Usually, at the optometrist, I am out of pocket$ 200.00-$350.00 bucks depending on what glasses I want and what things I want done to them. With Warby Parker, you get everything at one set price. The prices start at $95.00 and range to $150.00. Not bad for an all inclusive store. Also, if you are as blind as me, you can opt to pay an additional $30.00 to get an even better lens that thins them out and makes vision sharper( I added this to my order of course). All you have to do to order glasses from this place is:

1). Log on to WarbyParker.com

2). Choose your style of glasses prescription or non-prescription

3). Upload your prescription from your doctor as a pdf (very very easy btw)

4). Make a payment

5). Wait for them to contact you

They will even let you choose 5 pairs, ship them to you for free to try on before you purchase! There communication was perfect! They let me know from start to finish what to expect and they even had a promo on free 3-day shipping! (thanks Retailmenot!). Also, they give back to communities, so if you buy a pair a person who is in need of glasses elsewhere gets a pair! How cool is that!

Overall I feel fancy and feel these glasses are a good representation of myself!

Facebook Announcement

Hello!

I finally announced my pregnancy to my main social sites, Facebook and Instagram. It was not a secret, but I wanted to be very cute with my announcement. I wanted to incorporate my dog, since I treat him like my child and so I went and looked up pregnancy announcements. Here is the end result!

Retouched

Pretty cute huh! Hope my re-sizing is not too small but it was huge at the start. I took a picture with my Nikon J1 and it turned out great. I am now 17 weeks along and I am interested in feeling my baby move. I feel like I might have felt her move, but I cannot be too sure. I am sure that it will happen soon. Most 1st time mothers do not feel anything until 20 weeks or so.

School has been kicking my assets, and I find that concentrating on things is hard for me lately. I hear it is associated with being pregnant. Sucks, because I am the sharpest person to most people, and I have become extremely forgetful! I made an 85 on my midterm, and I am very satisfied with that being that I read 4 of the 8 chapters a couple of days before the midterm. I definitely should not let that happen again. EVER.

I have decided to wait on purchasing a home for now, and decided to continue to rent an apartment. Having a baby and a House note on my one person income may be too much for me. So once I get a decent raise, or promotion and adjust to life with a small baby, then I will start the exciting journey again. I move in a few weeks.

In workout news, I have not been motivated, I just have not done it. Period. I am however active, when it comes to work and when I am out, I am just not working out. When I move I will use our amazing apartment gym and take walks around our community. It will be good for the baby and me. I will also do some of these stretches I found on pinterest. So expect some bump pictures soon, I have honestly not been in a picture friendly mood. So I will get it together.

Trip to Atlanta and Such

Last week,

Me and my dad road tripped it to Atlanta. We could have flown, which is the easier alternative. I have not taken a road trip with him since I was a little girl, maybe four! So, it was a great bonding experience. We took our time, started out early, laughed joked and got there safely.

Our reason for traveling so far was for a few reasons; He has not seen his step son from his 1st marriage since the 90’s, and I wanted to see my Extended family on my Mothers side. I got to see my Aunt, my cousins, and even got to hang out with everyone. It was overdue and I plan on coming back. I also got to bond with my Stepbrother and his wife. It was overall an awesome experience.

I found out that I am pretty good at training dogs too. They had a big dog, a lab mix named Taz, and he was a very active dog. So I taught him a few more commands in addition to the ones my stepbro and wife taught him and helped him get more freedom! They kept him in the cage because he could be so excited with company. By the time I left back for Houston, he was a cool calm and collect dog. Exciting stuff. Gizmo, however, might not like that I cheated on him with another dog. LOL That is a whole other story. So I am officially 16 weeks and 5 days preggers and I am starting to poke out. Let me tell you it is weird and awesome. The only dislike I have is my breasts. They are LARGE. They have doubled in size and I think they are not done growing. I am glad I am tall and tig ol’es fit my body type. Otherwise it would truly look like I had some work done LOL.

School has really kept me busy and with me trying to do it all and realizing I cannot, I have to learn to prioritize a little bit better. I am working on it!

12 Weeks

So guys remember that big announcement I was going to tell you guys about? Well it’s here. I am pregnant.

Yes, this was quite unexpected and I had a 16 and pregnant moment of what am I going to do? Then I realized I was 28, stable in my career and could handle the responsibility. Especially if I decided to do some deeds to land me in this position. At first I was nervous, this is my first child, and now that the shock is over and I am done obsessing about the amount that daycare is, I am happy. So this is why I have talked about naps and exhaustion, the 1st trimester is rough! Now that I have some of my mojo back, I am doing all I can to be and stay active. I’ve already had some weight gain, and the majority of that is going up a few bra sizes. HA! So I shall blog about the journey of being a 1st time mother and all of it’s occurrences. Maybe I should change my blog to Life as Pregnant Sharde. HAHA Stay tuned.

Weekly update

I’ve been trying to get back into being consistent with my blog, but it appears, I have not been doing so well!

I have a few things to announce:

  • I started school again and I will be taking 6 hours of grad courses
  • I finally have a lot more energy going on around here for a minute there I thought I would just be like a bear and hibernate
  • I will be doing two 5k’s one is in April.
  • I will be taking a road trip to ATL with my Dad!

I have some other very exciting things to announce in the coming weeks and you will be floored. “-)

This past week I have been reading for my classes, making sure my calendar is marked so I will not forget any assignments. I got my dog a nice little haircut and he is liking it I think. I plan on doing more dog parenty things with him. I need to step up my activity as a dog parent. Chasing him and playing fetch can only go so far. Well, here are some pics!

Weekend Recap

It twas the weekend!

It came and it went! At least for me it did. I am working weekends this month so my weekends are like any old weekday for most people.Minimal social activities and lots of Football watching. This weekend some epic Football was played for Divisional Finals in the NFL. I am going to say that Seattle impressed me! I was surprised at the Saints. My Patriots won! The Chargers made great effort to try to win but no dice!

Also, my dog has decided to bark at Lord knows what in the middle of the night. Last night I had had it. I love his protectiveness that all his little 12 lbs have to offer, but excessive barking at imaginary intruders wore me out. So his little life might have been threatened at 3:30am . The most I threaten my lovely dog, is him “going to his room” (his crate) which he hates. My dog loathes incarceration. Crates, and Leashes are his worst nightmare. So he came back to my bed and cuddled.

This up and coming week I am back in grad school taking two courses and trying to get back into workout mode. I have been a sloth, of all sloths! 7lbs of slothfulness to be exact. Hope someone has more plans than me! I may make crab cakes. I have had a taste for them lately! Until next time my fellow bloggers!

New Year!

We are moving into the new year!

Well this can be exciting! For me things are moving along. I have had some unexpected things happen in my life……..

I will blog about them later but some things I can tell you is, I am becoming a home owner this month! I will also be in my second semester of Grad school and I am looking for new opportunities within my company! I took a hiatus on working out, not because I wanted to, because my energy levels went down the drain! But I am back! I am ready to conquer the workout world! HAHA. I do not think I have any New Years resolutions. Oh Maybe just one. Become a business analyst. There is always some career goal I want to achieve and this is it.

So did any one miss me??? LOL

Missing in Action

Where have I been?!

I’ve been here, just recovering from finals thats all. I have had a lot going on! I am in the process of looking at houses to buy and saving my dinero. Working out has not taken a back burner, I am staying as active as possible! Just wanted to say hey! Im here!

What I am thankful for

It is that time of the year again,

It’s awesome to share with people what you are thankful for. Not just at Thanksgiving or the Holidays, but overall. I tend to like to reflect on my year and state what I am most thankful for and here is my list in no particular order.

Peace of Mind

This year, my life has had some trying times, I have had a lot of things that would make you ask the Lord why is this happening to me, and instead of asking that question, I always think it that there is a reason for everything, and these things are lessons I can take, good or bad. I am thankful, through all of my struggles in relationships, friendships, and life in general that I have Peace of mind.

Family
The next thing I am grateful for is my growing family. We are at the stage in our lives where new additions are being added to the family. This year I got the opportunity to meet my beautiful niece Kayla, and share in a true family bonding moment with my Oldest Brothers first child.

I am also grateful for my family overall, we are not the closest knit group, but when we get together, it is evident it is all love and fun. Tonight we are having a fish fry and it will be good to see my siblings, as I do not get to see them on a regular basis.

Friends

Where do I start?! My friends have been absolutely important to my life, I confide in them, I take trips with them, they are my hairdressers and stylists, shop, and get into all kinds of shenanigans with them. Without them, I know I would have gotten into some trouble. You chicas keep me on the right track. I appreciate and love you all!

Fitness

The other thing I have found this year that has been extremely important is taking control of my health and lifestyle. I lost 25lbs this year after an eye opening visit from the doctor about my health and where it was headed. I had slightly high cholesterol, I am pre diabetic, and I was slightly overweight. I went from 198lbs to 172! Which is great for someone my size (6foot giant). I would not have connected with the people I have through fitness had I not took a strong stance on my health and started a blog, and met wonderful people. The connections you make are amazing! So Let’s get lifted!!!

Vacation Re-Cap

Hey guys,

It’s been a while since I actually blogged, and it was all thanks to school, work, projects, and just plane ole life getting in the way. Let me tell you what I have been up to!

I have been semi-consistent with my workouts, thanks to school, I even rode my bike to the rail and took it into work. My bike ride to the rail from my house was about a 15 -20 minute ride, then about a 5 minute ride into work. I even found time to get a decent workout in during my lunch. I should have taken pictures but I was in the zone!

This weekend I took some vacation time. It is the end of the year and I have about 68 hours of vacation time I need to use or, I will lose it. So I took off this past Friday and Monday to make it a lovely 4-day hiatus! I went to Austin to visit some friends, and we had an excellent time together. I certainly will be back for a visit. Austin is wonderfully outdoorsy and my type of place. Friendly people, bike trails galore, excellent scenic views, great music, and food! Here are a few pics from instagram:

Anthony!

On my last day there, I got to get my Workout on around the neighborhood I did 1.5 miles of cardio, Lunges to the stop sign, 1 minute planks and 25 sit-ups. It was beautiful! I cannot wait to own my own home and continue to do things like that. Running outside versus the treadmill, makes for an excellent experience!

I headed back home, and stopped at Rudy’s BBQ for some brisket. Austin always makes me crave barbeque for some reason and then proceeded to come home relax and start working on my paper that was due. I worked on it for most of Monday and editing a 20 page paper, and mellow out. Hope everyone’s weekend was fantastic. This week I plan on working out, playing with my pooch completing my Grad school work, and attending a pot luck for work!

How was your Weekend?

What are your plans for Thanksgiving in the Office?
